Dell, Yahoo, and Nokia Kamikaze Blitz Apple

Apple’s (Nasdaq: AAPL) iTunes kicked everyone’s ass and created a near monopoly which resurrected Wall Street’s darling. Now, with the iPhone and iPad on pace to sell better than any Apple products in history, competitors are sending the kamikaze blitz.

This morning Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) released plans for Streak, a 5-inch Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android™-based Tablet designed to provide people “on-the-go” entertainment, social connection, and navigation experience. Early this June the Dell Streak will be available across the UK. Later this summer, Dell plans to make Streak available in the U.S.

Also, Nokia (Nasdaq: NOK) and Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) are joining forces to take on anointed Apple. Nokia will be the exclusive provider of Yahoo’s maps and navigation services, and Yahoo will provide Nokia’s mail and chat services.

If Dell, Nokia, Yahoo, Google, and Microsoft (NYSE: MSFT) can get organized, they have a fair chance of boxing Apple into a Starbucks (NYSE: SBUX) type luxury niche for electronics and media. However, if the band of brothers can’t create a unified front, Apple might dominate another generation of gizmos and media consumption.

Do you think Apple will be the one tech company to rule them all? Let us know in the comments below …
