“Lost” Finale ‘Alternate Endings’ Revealed on ABC Sunday

As promised, ABC’s “Aloha to Lost” edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” featured comedic “alternative endings” to the “Lost” series finale. The running joke was that creators and head writers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof were so immersed in their storytelling that they were unaware of other television shows and finales and struggled to come up with something original.

– Around a camp fire, Sayid tells the story of the submarine, only for it to be revealed that the show is just a version of “Survivor” hosted by Jeff Probst. Sayid is eliminated from the island.

– In a take off the ending to “The Sopranos,” set to Styx’s “Come Sail Away” instead of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” Hurley, Claire and Jack are seated at the table of a diner. Richard Alpert makes his way through the restaurant, while Jin paraodies Meadow in running towards the restaurant. Predictably, the scene cuts to black.

– A parody of the “Newhart” ending, with Kate waking up next to Bob Newhart to reveal that she, too, was dreaming–in her case, she was on an island with polar bears and a smoke monster. Cuse and Damon then turn a light on, revealing that they are sharing a bed at the other side of the room.
