Music Websites

Apple website ranks second in visitors to online retailers

Apple's websites now bring in the second-highest number of unique visitors to online retailers, according to data published by the research firm comScore. The company is second only to Amazon, while Walmart falls into the third spot.

It is difficult to draw solid conclusions from the comScore study, which gauges the total number of unique visitors to all of Apple's sites. The numbers do not appear to separate the company's specific store page, while overall revenues are also absent.

The comparison does indicate that Apple's sites continue to attract more visitors, with traffic increasing by 19 percent from last year. The number of visitors to HP's site was flat, while Dell experienced a 19 percent slide in traffic.

A separate report suggests Apple's iTunes portal now represents 28 percent of all music sales in the US, making it the single largest music distributor in the country. Amazon also showed growth in this segment, climbing to 12 percent to roughly match the music sales achieved by Walmart.
