TV highlights for June 1, 2010: 'America's Got Talent,' 'Hell's Kitchen,' more

As the summer TV season kicks off, lots of shows come back for another season, while several new series make their debuts:

RETURNING SERIES: "America's Got Talent" (NBC at 8 p.m.) People across the country try to get their 15 minutes of fame by impressing Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and new judge Howie Mandel (who got the gig when David Hasselhoff dropped out). Auditions start in Los Angeles for the Season 5 premiere.

Also returning:

"Hell's Kitchen" (Fox at 8). Chef Ramsay returns to yell at a whole new group of cooks as Season 7 kicks off, with 16 contestants willing to take all the abuse for a few minutes of fame. Ramsay starts off the episode by splitting the group into men vs. women and commands them to create signature dishes -- unfortunately, things do not go well.

Got talent? Howie Mandel will be the judge of that starting Tuesday at 8 on NBC.

"Wipeout" (ABC at 8). Twelve single guys and girls are paired up on the best first date ever -- running the "Wipeout" obstacle course on the third-season premiere. Of course, one duo will be very happy, and hopefully make it to date No. 2 if they win the $100,000 grand prize.

"One Big Happy Family" (TLC at 9). The Coles family is back for a second season as family members deal with their obesity and try to live a healthy lifestyle. Mom Tameka prepares for a dinner party in the premiere, and in the second episode at 9:30, goes on a job hunt. And at 10, "The Little Couple" has its Season 3 debut as Jen and Bill decide to spice up their looks for the summer.

PREMIERE WATCH: "Losing It With Jillian" (NBC at 10). Swearing she won't intentionally make anyone cry (especially kids), "Biggest Loser" trainer Jillian Michaels moves in with unhealthy families across America to help them get on track to a better lifestyle; Hank Stuever previews the reality series.

Also premiering:

"Jersey Couture" (Oxygen at 10). Yes, another New Jersey show (we blame Snooki). This one centers on the Scali family, which runs a dress store (yes, there are leopard prints in stock). In between selling glamorous dresses, the family gets into wacky situations, deals with crazy customers and makes fun of daughter Christina for being single.

"Downtown Girls" (MTV at 11). Now that "The Hills" is starting its steady march to the finish line, MTV hopes to cash in on a new dysfunctional group of friends. This clique lives in downtown Manhattan, and focuses on Shallon the blogger, Gurj the musician, Victoria the lawyer, Nikki the boutique owner and Klo the bride-to-be (seriously). But even though poor Klo is billed as the relationship-obsessed member of the group, Gurj tries to make a go of her long-distance relationship with her boyfriend in the series premiere.
